About me
Victoria started painting at a young age with The Malta Society of Arts, in Valletta where to this day she is still an active member. She owes her formative years to the tutoring of leading local artists after completing secondary school; namely Harry Alden, Fr Marius Zerafa and Joseph Mallia. This led her to achieve a diploma in Fine Arts.

In the 1990s, Victoria went to the UK and attended live classes at the Midlands Art Centre in Birmingham. This initiated her passion for drawing the human figure. On her return to Malta, Victoria expressed a preference for figure drawing and still life in chalk pastels, oils and water colours. Her oil paintings are often characterized by an impasto technique, while her water colours and chalk pastels show liberation of a softer lyricism. Victoria is indebted to established artists, namely Alfred Briffa, Eman Grima, and Jesmond Vassallo for their live classes in Malta.

Victoria pursued her artistic studies at the University of Malta, graduating in 2006 with a B.A. (Hons.) and in 2012 with an M.A. in History of Art by research with Merit under the guidance of Professor Keith Sciberras, Head of the History of Art department at the University of Malta. Following up on her studies, Victoria has published in leading Maltese publications and delivered lectures both to academic as well as lay audiences.

Victoria currently holds the position of teacher of Art for the Senior School at Stella Maris College, Gzira. Over the years, Victoria has collaborated with other emerging artists in Malta where she participated in a number of collective Art exhibitions. Victoria’s love for Malta’s cultural heritage is reflected in her proud support of many local heritage organisations, such as Palazzo Falzon and the Malta Society of Arts.
